Tributes for Tammy

Thanks for all the updates. That is a wonderful surprise for her....what a good deed! Please let her know that I have been thinking of her an awful lot...not only in general, but every day when I come home and pass by the Sweetapple. Send her our love.
Hilary Miller (and Olivia, the Great Dane and Scarlett the Chihuahua and cats)

OMG... that made me cry. I always heard that Bo was a nice guy, but to do
something like that shows he has a heart as big as could be. WOW.

BTW - I think Steve Wallace played for the 49ers with Joe Montana, Steve
Young, Jerry Rice (and a lot of other good players) and coached by Bill
Walsh when they were dominating the NFL.

I was going to call her this afternoon to talk to her about her visit Sat. How exciting for her! And I wanted to tell her Daisy won a medal at the Dachshund festival for the wheelchair race! I was so looking forward to Sat. Please keep me posted.

.....and I hope she is sleeping peacefully when the Lord lifts her up! We will miss you Tammy!

May God bless you, Tammy and fold you into His arms forever.

Oh Margene, my heart is truly breaking right now for her, David, and those of you who know her so well. What a comfort it brings to my heart to know that she trusts in God's plan for her life. I will try to drop off a CD and you can deliver it, if not for her then for her husband. I'm praying for peace for her and her family. Thank you so much for all you do.

Alisa Priddy

Dear Margene,

Thank you so much for continuing to inform all of us what is going on. I say special prayers for Tammy every night. I thought she might get better, and then yesterday I had the feeling that it was time to just pray that this goes peacefully. I will continue to do so. I am very sorry. I know this must be especially hard on all of you who work for Tammy.

All of you are in my prayers,
Laura Rosen
Maisy and Charlie's "Mom"

You are so right, Monique. I don't know you, but I could just feel your love for Tammy and there are so very many of us who feel just the way you do. She was so positive when our precious little coton de tulear (Coty) was diagnosed with epilepsy - so good to take all the time in the world to explain the treatment, etc.- even those times when I knew she did not feel well (though she would not let me know that). She is a unique person for sure, maybe one of the most courageous people I have ever met.

I wanted to share one of my "Tammy" stories. Late one Friday afternoon, about 5:45, our puppy was running in our basement, and yelped and started limping. We could not imagine what was wrong, but he continued to cry as I tried to examine his paws, legs, etc. and could not find anything wrong. I called Sweet Apple knowing that I probably would not get an answer so late, but I did and it was Tammy. I said, "I know you are probably on your way out, but this is what is happening ..." She didn't even hesitate, she said come right on out and she would wait. Being Friday afternoon the traffic was horrible and it was another 45 minutes before we got there. She was waiting to examine our puppy. She determined nothing was stuck in his paw, but that he must have stepped on something as he was running - she gave him a pain shot and almost immediately he quit crying. It was 7:00 by the time all was said and done. We, of course, thanked her over and over for staying to take care of our dog, but she just assured us she was just glad she was still there - and then after all that, when we left and tried to pay she just said, go, and forget it!! What a doctor!

Also, we have had a lot of fun talking Auburn football. Everybody in my family graduated from Auburn, so as soon as Tammy and I discovered this, be knew we had a War Eagle bond. I am so thrilled that Bo Jackson did what he did. I know that made her day.

Let's all keep praying.

Rowena Head

Hi Margene,

Thank you for your continued updates, hard as they are to read. Your time and thoughtfulness with Tammy, and all of us, means more than we can say.

I'm going to send a separate email with Birthday greetings to Tammy in the hope that she will be awake and smiling when you deliver the next batch of cards and notes.

Thank you again and we continue to pray for Tammy.

Bill & Linda Gentry

Dear Tammy,

We hope this finds you in good spirits and we wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!... and hope Auburn wins by 100 points in your honor!!

We love you and look forward to seeing you again. You mean more to us than we could ever express.

Love,

Bill, Linda, Tucker, Tessa, & Tasha Gentry

I can say nothing useful.
My thoughts are all I have, and they are with her.

Dear All,

I have known Tammy since her days at Etowah Vet Hospital – then when she was with that other vet on Bell’s Ferry Road (I don’t remember his name) – then with Dr. Malsby at Suburban. During this time she was also working at the ER for Cherokee County. I have A LOT of animals and without a doubt, I always wanted Tammy to look after them. Not only is she a marvelous vet, but she’s is truly a beautiful person. I can remember on one occasion that I had to make the difficult decision of having a cat put down and it was the weekend. I called the ER to see if Tammy was working and fortunately, she was. If I had to have an animal put down, I always wanted her to do it. I knew she would share the sadness of losing "one of my children". When Tammy moved to SweetApple, it was a bit too far for me to drive, so I had to change vets. I still kept in touch through people at Sherry Weaver’s clinic and through our hairdresser. I called her a few times, but I knew she was too busy to chat, so I just left messages.

I will continue to pray for Tammy. There is nothing that God cannot do. My prayer chain is also praying for her.

Thank you all for sharing your stories. Thanks, Margene, for keeping us updated.

Your news was received with mixed emotion. Sad to know the end is near and
we will no longer share her company here on earth. Happy that she will soon
find life without pain and suffering. Knowing Tammy has only strengthened
our belief in God --- she truly is an angel sent to earth for just a short
time but her life and energy has impacted all who know her.

We all wish to thank you so much for the kindness you shared on all our
behalf to Tammy and David. You always had just the right words to say about
how Tammy was doing. Your words exactly capture the essence of who she is.
It was like she was telling us herself.

Again, thank you so much.

Dan & Mona Huffman

Thank you, Margene, for always keeping us in the loop in regards to Tammy. I told you already: there are angels on Earth: YOU!

Cody, my black lab and I, have lit a candle every single day for Tammy since learning about her illness. She is one incredible lady.

Margene, please let Tammy know (via David?) that she is NEVER alone.

We all love her dearly.

Boone Dunham

I remember the first time I met her I was actually contemplating changing vets because I wasn’t very fond of the vet that was there at the time. I had to bring Boo (my black cocker) in for his next set of shots and decided to go ahead and make the appointment at Sweet Apple. I was so very happy that I did. Tammy made me feel so comfortable and I could tell that she truly loved our pets. When I left there I felt great and very comfortable bringing Boo back there. About two years ago we got a new puppy named Remi and I was excited for Tammy to meet her. Of course they hit it off and Remi loved her.

I too hope and pray that we will all see her doing what she loves best some day really soon and will continue to pray for a miracle to come her way.

Go Auburn !!!!!!!!

The Mullin Family

I met Tammy for the first time after moving to Georgia from California. After moving here, I had seen a vet referred by a neighbor . This vet told me my Cocker Spaniel Joey had an enlarged lymph node and may have cancer. Needless to say, I was hysterical-knowing nobody here, and fearing that this doggie who I love more than anything may be sick. I by chance in seeking out a second opinion later that evening, found Tammy as she was working at an emergency clinic I had found in the phone book I took Joey there to get another opinion. Tammy with her bright smile, sparking eyes, and calm demeanor, said, "no this dog does not have cancer," he is the healthiest cocker spaniel I have ever seen! From that point on, she held an especially special place in my heart . She not only was Joey ( who is still here!) and now Max's vet, but she was a dear friend. There are no words to describe the manner in which she loved my doggies and cared for them like they were her own. She is an incredibly special and dear person who has left a "pawprint" on my heart. I love you Tammy.

Carie Lorman

Wow, what a true testament the Tammy stories have been. Tammy is one of the most genuine and loving people I have ever met. After my first meeting with Tammy to have her do a new pet exam I came home and told my wife that we have definitely found the Vet for our puppie. I said to her there is something so genuine and different about Tammy. Our new 10 week old yellow Lab (Abbey) would be in the best of hands with Tammy. For as many dog's as you must see every week, month and year I was so surprised when I walked into Sweet Apple with Abbey and you would walk out, see her and know her by name.

Tammy has been our vet for several years and saw me through the loss of my two precious kitties, Mimi and Mish Mish. I was stunned at the genuine love that she showed my pets. She truly understood how incredibly attached I was to them.

I now have two more kitties. One was considered feral and Tammy showed her the same love that you all have seen. Then I got a kitten - a Siamese. He adored Tammy. She was thrilled that I managed to find a new kitty who was able to bring laughter and joy back into my home - she knew how sad we had been after losing our two kitties.

Our kitten absolutely loved Tammy. And those of you with cats know that they don't like going to the vet and will usually just suffer through it. Well, Suki got so excited every time he saw Tammy and, of course, she would gush over him - they made quite a pair. As she was giving him his shots, she said - imagine this - he is actually purring as I give him the injection. We both just laughed.

Well, Suki had to go in for his surgeries and, didn't mind at all that he had to contend with Tammy's chemo schedule. A few weeks after his surgery, he kept limping around and holding his foot up. I decided that I should take him in. I did and, of course, he demoed the foot for Tammy and she gave him lots of sympathy. She said to check back in a couple of weeks. Well, by that time, she was not in the clinic and Suki had to see one of the other docs. Well, after that visit, he stopped holding his foot up. And, miraculously got better. My husband and I both concluded that he had been acting. When he went in and didn't get to see his Doctor Tammy, he found out what normal vet visits are like - just not the same at all - for pet or owner!

Tammy, we love you and are praying for you. If you get a chance to read this, Suki has been helping me type - he is right here. So if there are any typos, he made them, not me!

Suki, Cici and Signe Maximous

The following reply is from my friend, Tammy Shuman:

Tammy you are such a wonderful, compassionate, and kind person. You truly have love in your heart for animals and people. You are someone that I truly admire for being able to take the good and the bad thats comes along with the territory of being a vet. Your passion and kindness is what makes going to you a good experience. I wanted to share the story that comes to mind of when I first met you. Here it goes:

About 7 years ago our kids we're just old enough to start leaving them with family members. My husband and I haven't taken a vacation together (about 2 years) since having our children and we planned to go on a deep fishing trip for a long weekend with some acquaintances. I remember we we're so excited and truly looked forward to getting away. The hour before we left potential disaster occured. My best friend "WOODY" got out the house (which she never does) and went after the UPS guy, she bit the tire and as he drove away her tooth got stuck. The next thing I know I see WOODY flying through the air and blood all aver her face. I immediately took her to you, Tammy. I was so upset and didn't know whether I should leave for our trip or not. You immediately looked at her and took x-rays and said she would be fine but the UPS tire my not. Needles to say, you we're right and we had a wonderful trip.

One of the funniest times was when you told me to put fat girl "WOODY" on a green bean diet. I knew me and WOODY we're going to have some issues but I tried it anyway. Needless to say, WOODY won this battle. Due to her rebellion to the green beans, she quit eating- which didn't harm her in any way. After a couple of days I called you about her lack of eating and you said, "Oh well, she's fat, happy, old and loves her life - why change it". That one statement said everything about you... to live and enjoy your life to the fulliest .

As my friend Monique said, you never failed to take in the countless animals that my children or her children would find injured or hurt - turtles, birds, mice, etc... Whenever they would find something they would say immediately "we need to take it to Dr. Pendergrass so she can fix it and let it go". You are not only our Vet but you are also a friend.

Through the years you have shown that compassion, humor, and love each and everytime I brought WOODY in - always kneeling down and talking to her (because she is fat and hard to lift) so she would feel safe and comfortable. You always had a smile on your face and gave reassurance.

Tammy, I wanted to let you know that your are honored, loved, and respected. You are in my thoughts and prayers EVERYDAY and I fill truly honored to know you.

Sincerely,

Tammy Shuman - WOODY's MOM

Tammy for our family is more than an Auburn fan, she is a Horse

Person.............I knew I had found the perfect Vet. She keeps on top of

the welfare of all my equine pets though they have never come to Sweetapple.

My dogs insist on ALL going for EVERY visit to the vet together even if only

one has to have their nails clipped, all of them have to go see Tammy. She

even managed to win over 'BB' the standoffish Chihuahua .

Tammy's selflessness and compassion for me was very apparent when she first

met Dr.Horowitz. She was thrilled with his bedside manner and outlook and

the two of us shared many talks about their relationship. However when they

first met his daughter was going through the illness and eventual death of

her "Best Friend", her horse. Tammy agonized trying to decide how to help

his daughter cope with her loss despite her impending surgeries. She had so

much love and concern for the girl and her horse that she had never met,

that was Tammy!

All the love and prayers she has shared for so many years will continue to

surround her and bring her comfort..........

Susan Church

I am so surprised that there are so many Tammy Stories, she always made my family feel so important with our needs, I truly felt like we were the only ones with any problems and getting all her love and attention. How amazing that one beautiful woman could make so many of us feel that special all at the same time!

Amen, they must need a Heck of a Vet in Animal Heaven!

Hi Margene,

Have you received any word about Tammy? She is in our thoughts and prayers! She is such an awesome lady... and will be deeply missed.

When I brought our latest addition, Benny, to see Tammy she laughed at my wondering how a six-week-old kitten could show up in our basement, since he was feral and had to make his way through woods and/or across a busy highway to get here. She was not surprised at all that he came to live with the other "O'Kelley Cats." She said he "just knew where to go."

At that time I had no idea that Tammy was ill. I don't know if she knew that I didn't know. But she wasn't focusing on herself, only on taking care of this new kitten and asking about the others, whose names she always remembered.

My husband James, and all our babies, Ralph, Josh, Willie, and Ben, and I all love Tammy and thank you David, for sharing her with us.

Jean O'Kelley

I'm glad to hear that Tammy had such a special visit. It really is nice to
know that perfect strangers can show such an act of kindness. It also
drives home, however, just how serious Tammy's condition is. My heart aches
for her and for you all; I know you all must be suffering along with her. I
continue to remember her in my prayers every day, and while a recovery would
be a well deserved miracle, I hope that God will at the very least grant her
peace and comfort.

Please give my best to Tammy. She is very loved and held in high regard by
many.

I pray for Tammy to find peace, rest and a place with no pain or discomfort!

None of us want to see her go,

I will never forget Tammy; I've never known anyone like her.

I WEAR YELLOW EVERYDAY FOR TAMMY

She was always so kind to my chocolate labs, Penny and Jenny; even coming to the house when it was time for Jenny to go.

I have alerted two angels to be on the lookout for her!

Dear all,

I have been quietly reading all of Margene's updates througout the months. Thank you Margene for keeping us close with Tammy's journey. You are a good friend.

I just wanted to say that with the recent updates, I have a such heavy heart. Tammy is truly a beautiful and unique soul. I feel so honored to have crossed paths with her. She is a soul that you do not come across everyday.

Tammy was there for my family through times we had to make a tough decision about letting our dog(s) go due to illness, meeting our new additions, welcoming them with open arms and just asking how we were doing today.

I think she was just as excited as we were bringing home a new stray!

While having to let one of your pets pass on is never easy, she made us all feel as ease. I really felt she understood what we were going through...not with words so much but more so with her resting her hand on the backs of my children, and a knowing nod to me and my husband.

Another beautiful thing about Tammy is you can just feel the positive vibe coming from her.

More than a few times she was brought up in conversations and there were always people who would chime in on how they knew her and how much they love her.

There were also many times that my friend Tammy Shuman and myself brought in injured animals (they find us somehow) and Tammy never batted an eye. She just took them in and fixed them....no questions asked.

I hope to share with Tammy and the rest of you (I know you all have many wonderful "Tammy" stories of your own, please share!) how truly blessed I feel to have met her.

Thank you Tammy for your wonderful heart and soul. You have made a difference in so many of our lives. You make this world a better place.

I have been very grateful for your updates regarding Tammy . She has been and will continue to be my favorite vet. Dr. Tammy is a genuine one of a kind person. It was when I first brought my springer, Maddie, to Sweet Apple that I felt she was a different kind of vet. Her compassion , caring, and enthusiasm for animals truly showed through and I instantly liked her. It wasn't until I l was checking out at the front desk that I saw her diploma on the wall and knew that I liked her even more. We both had graduated from the same Auburn University. I pray every night that she finds peace and comfort and yes, that a miracle occurs. I will continue to pray for her.

Cathy Cheatwood

Tammy is one of a kind. The world is definitely a better place because of her. She has always gone above and beyond for our pets and family. She is truly one of the kindest, most compassionate not to mention beautiful individuals I've ever met. Personally I love hearing all of the Tammy stories!

And Rowena I agree, let's keep praying and thinking positive thoughts.

Dear All,

Tammy is the most wonderful vet I have ever had. Our golden, Bailey, has had several major issues and Tammy was there for us. The first time was when something happened to her tail--maybe a snake or bug bite. Her tail got so infected that the infection was about to creep into her body. Tammy was keeping her at Sweetapple trying to fix it. After a night there, Tammy called us with some "bad news." She was in tears and we were certain that she was going to tell us she had to put her down. Much to our relief--she told us she had to amputate her tail and that she would be okay. We joke that Bailey looks like an overgrown cocker spaniel and her little stump wags all the time.

Then about a year ago Bailey became ill and we couldn't figure it out. Tammy ran all kinds of tests, xrays, etc. I know she never really charged me all that she should have. Eventually, she recommended we go to UGA for extensive testing and it would be more economical. Turns out she has an auto-immune disease. After treatments at UGA, we moved her back into Tammy's care, which is still ongoing. One day when Bailey was having a relapse, she asked me to come right over because she was going to be leaving by noon. Turns out she was going to the hospital and I didn't know about her illness yet. She told them at the hospital that she couldn't stay overnight because she had to get back to check on Bailey! With all she was dealing with, she was thinking of her animal patients before herself.

I am praying for Tammy and know that no other vet could ever replace her. She is such a beautiful person.

Sandy Miller

Dear All,

I have been with Sweetapple for eight years, but loved it when Dr. Tammy came on board. She guided me through the tough loss of our twelve year old Schnauzer. Jasmine had a series of small strokes and was on her final journey. Tammy was there to treat Jasmine and eventually took her from my arms. I am forever grateful.

About two months later, we adopted a rescue puppy. Sophie, unfortunately came with a bad virus and was very sick. I was in everyday for a week getting fluids. It was terrible. Again, Tammy was there. Sophie expired. Two loved animals gone within months... Tammy and the staff were the best. Without speaking you can feel their compassion.

Third dog later, I was still kind of nervous, but Tammy and staff were very helpful. Even though Sydney got a little FAT, they were always kind and helpful. Sydney is back to her desired weight, Tammy would be proud.

Hi Margne.

Thank you so mouch for keeping me in touch with Dr. tammy Pendergrass. She is so sweet lady. She was allways great with my dogs. She is a wonderfuly lady. Thank you again.

Hello fellow Tammy & animal lovers ~

We too have been reading and praying, and now reading everyone’s "Tammy" stories makes us believe that miracles can and do happen. Tammy is our miracle. Like all of you, we are passionate about our animals and no-one loves our pets as much as we do, except Tammy. We "found" Brady, our first dog through Tammy and when we adopted our second rescue, Biscuit, his first visit was to Dr. Tammy. After the all clear from her, she came out and said "no charge for the Mullin’s today". She was so pleased that we had given a good home to another orphan! Anyone we meet who has experienced Tammy’s kindness, gentleness and generosity of spirit knows what we all mean. There is no-one we would trust more with our 2 beloved dogs and 3 wonderful kitties. But besides being a wonderful vet, Tammy is a wonderful person. She has touched all our lives and hopefully we can all reach out and touch her with our love and appreciation and our prayers. We join all of you in praying for a miracle.

~ Bill & Irene

Margene,
Our prayers are with Tammy and David and you all. If this is her time to
go, she will be met with another neighbor and friend of ours who is lying
now in her home ready to meet Jesus. Her name is Miko Bumpas, a neighbor of
ours in Bradshaw and has been battling cancer since May.

Our lives have been blessed by these two ladies. May we remember that God
is comforting them now and that He promises us peace on earth.

Margene, thank you for all that you have done.

Tammy,

If you're reading this or having someone read it to you I must tell you that Abbey really missed you when we came in for her first year visit. Because you had to help us get her through some intestinal issues and she had seen you several time in a short period Abbey really came to know that when I pulled into the parking lot at Sweet Apple she would get to see her new friend and she would really get super exited and drag me into the door of your clinic. If Abbey could say something in this email I know it would be, "Tammy, I love you and thank you for taking such good care of me". We added a middle name for her it is Abbey Faith Wade. I think that Abbey is looking forward to seeing you again so you are going to get well because Abbey has Faith and so do we.

I believe that God will heal you. That is my prayer for you every night. And when God heals you he will also be use you to Glorify His name because that is the purpose that he has for us all.

Jim Wade

To all,

The stories that you have graciously shared with us tonight (I know there are even more to come) have tremendously helped me. We really should gather these stories and write a book in Tammy’s honor. I find such comfort in knowing how Tammy has touched your lives and the lives of your pets. She is so worth that!

Thank you for having the courage yourself to share your private moments with all of us!

I will also continue to pray for our girl and the gifts she has bestowed upon us so many times over. Pay it forward.

Xx Monique Adams

P.S. Margene – thanks again for helping us with the updates. I imagine that it is not easy for you to re-cap all that you see.

The following reply is from Carol:

My daughter, Lisa Lawson, forwarded this Email to me. I never had the privilege to meet Tammy, but I felt like I knew her through all the times my daughter spoke so fondly of her. She was the Vet for my two grand dogs, Tank and Misty. She was like an angel to those dogs time and time again. Lisa just sang her praises on how she would help her through some difficult times with them. Tammy was always there for her and her babies. Tammy definitely is one in a million. Always had time to take Lisa's phone calls no matter what time of the day or how busy she was helping others. Lisa's dad passed away from Cancer and hearing of Tammy being sick really hit her hard. I know Tammy has touched so many lives. She touched mine just by knowing how loving and concerned she always was. They must need an awesome Vet up there in animal heaven, because that can be the ONLY reason for this. I know my baby, Katie, will meet her there someday. Thank you Tammy for being so gentle and loving. You have made such a difference in this world. Rest quietly and peacefully!

Thank you!

Dearest Tammy and all who surround you -

I hope you are able to hear these stories, Tammy. And David - I hope you find strength and support through these words, too. No doubt this has been a tough battle for you as well. Please know, David, you are included in all the prayers.

We've only been going to Sweet Apple for around 5 yrs. I was not impressed with the first Dr. I met there - and I only returned because it was close to the house. I am so glad I did - Ms. Tammy walked in and just adored my precious Lina .... a 96lb Rottweiler. Lina was loved by all who met her - and Tammy just gushed over Lina. It was awesome to see. Shortly after introducing Sweet Apple to Lina, we rescued two puppies - Wilbur & Cherokee. And, just like Lina, Tammy and the entire Sweet Apple staff welcomed our newest family members with open arms.

Lina was a senior dog when Tammy met her - she had hip dysplasia and a bad back knee. And, we learned shortly after meeting Tammy, that Lina's kidney's were in the very early stages of failing. Still, Tammy encouraged us to fight the good fight. She worked with us and stayed in touch with us. Every time we stepped foot into Sweet Apple - w/pets or no pets - she'd ask about Lina. As things progressed, I asked her about putting Lina down. Lina was my pride and joy - my first true love. Tammy assured me that I would know when it was time, and she most certainly was not going to give up on Lina. She also told me that when the time did come to let Lina go - she would do all she could to make it peaceful. Time continue to pass, and Lina had gotten to the point where IVs were needed to keep her kidneys flushed. With Tammy's full support and encouragement, I gave Lina IVs at home at least twice a day for several weeks. When it On the morning of Saturday - Memorial Day weekend in 2004, I woke up to find Lina clearly ready to let go. Tammy was right - I would know when it was time. I called Sweet Apple, and Tammy said she would come out to our house to put Lina to sleep. Tammy, one of the vet techs, myself and my husband sat on the kitchen floor and said our final goodbyes to Lina. It was so evident to me that Lina met just about as much to Tammy as she meant to me.

Finding a vet is a fact of life for all animal owners. Finding a vet that is truly compassionate - incredibly selfless - gentle - supportive - etc - well, that is a blessing. Dr. Tammy - YOU are a blessing.

Love and prayers,

Amen, Susan! When Tammy came to our house to put our beloved dog to sleep - I was certain that we were Tammy's only patients. I never dreamed she gave that service to any one else. Did she even have other patients? We always felt like Tammy was our own personal support network. She makes us feel like we are her sole patient.... I don't mean that in a selfish way at all, either.

Tammy you have a gift of undivided attention - you make everyone feel as if they are the only one. What a blessed gift!

Please don’t grieve for Tammy. She will soon be at peace. Grieve for the animals. They are losing the best friend they’ll ever have. Grieve for the little girls who are losing an amazing role model: the intelligent, kind and beautiful vet in the white coat. She was the female version of Steve Irwin in the pet world.

The animals on Earth are crying, and the ones in heaven are rejoicing and gathering at the rainbow bridge to greet her.

St. Francis has some competition.

Dear Friends,

I have lost count of how many tissues I have gone through reading these emails. Thank you all for sharing your stories, and thank you Margene for keeping us all informed...the joys and the sorrows. A theme runs through the "Tammy Stories"...how caring and compassionate she has been to ALL of us, pets and people, and made us all feel special and loved.

I moved to Georgia a few years back with my three dogs. My beagle "Abbott" was my working partner, a detector dog with the USDA Beagle Brigade. When he retired he came home to live and had some wonderful retirement years. When he became ill at 13 years, Dr. Tammy helped us through his final days, and I will never forget how much that has meant to me. And when "Annie", my senior yellow lab and I had to be in Pennsylvania for 3 months this spring, Dr. Tammy made sure we had all our IV supplies etc. to take with us so I could care for her. When "Annie" was hospitalized in Pa. Dr. Tammy and Sweetapple were in contact with me to help us make the hard decisions. I remember one specific call from Dr. Tammy that helped me be at peace with what I feared.

So now "Lily" is part of the family, a little beagle that Tammy says "Abbott" sent to us (and I believe it is true!), and when I brought newly adopted "Nanna " (ylw lab) in to meet everyone at Sweetapple, Tammy was on the scene, as hard as I know it must have been for her to even be in the office.

I don't remember who said it in a previous email, but to repeat the sentiment...no one cares for our pets as much as we do (accept Tammy). Thank you Dr. Tammy for always being there for us , we love you.
