I have a little bit of new information about Tammy's Fund at Emory Winship Cancer Institute . David , Wil , Helena and I all went to take all the donations you helped us raise , on November 28th . One of the many people that were there to help us through this process and explain how the money would be used ,were Jennifer Daly and  Dr. Horowitz . He was Tammy's Doctor . David and he decided the best way to use the money we raise every year , is on research , just like Tammy wanted . There are Doctors there at Emory doing research on cervical cancer , and need grants to be able to do their research . The grants are very limited , because there's not a big spotlight on cervical cancer research , YET . Hopefully , little by little we can change that . But these Doctors , have to apply for these grants . Not every Dr. can get the money . There's a process to it . When we find out who the Dr. is that got our 6,000 dollar grant , we will also find out what he is doing with it , and what he found out with it . This process takes awhile , but as soon as I find out , I will let you all know ! I am very very excited about ALL of this . We all left there with such a GOOD positive feeling . All the people at Emory that we have been working with , have been so so good to us .
The other thing I learned , was about the foundation I want to start .
Dr. Horowitz and I discussed this at length , because it is so important to me , and to Tammy as well . He explained to me , that without quite a substantial amount of money , to pay different people , to take care of books , advertise , lawyers , etc. It could be done , but right off the top , everything we raise would first go to all those things first , and then whatever was left , would go to our charity . Since we aren't that big yet , it wouldn't really leave much . But I am thinking if we continue at this every year , eventually , we will make a name for ourselves , and then maybe we will have enough money to start a foundation . Also , Emory already IS a 501-C3 foundation . So , we can kind of just go right underneath them for now .Jennifer Daly and Dr. Horowitz have set up an account in Tammy's memory that will always be there now , and if someone want a tax break for their contribution , they can mail the gift right to them , instead of going through our fund raiser in October , and they will send them back a tax receipt for their charitable contribution .
I have included the address below if anyone wants to send money straight to them . This can be done any time of year . It doesn't have to wait until October . Just make sure you still put " Tammy Pendergrass " in the memo still , or write them a note saying who it is in memory of .
Thank you all so much for all you have done . You should know , Dr Tammy , was read all the names of all the people who gave money in her name . We didn't read the amounts , because that wasn't important . Every $5 dollars counted towards this 6,000 dollars . But she knew , with every name , how many people loved her and were fighting for her cause right along with her  . And to those of you that gave after she passed , well , you know she knows that too .

Below I have included a link to a very very important website . Dr. Tammy did an interview with them about 2 weeks before she passed away . It was a very informative interview . She talked about her feelings , her diagnoses , what she hoped to accomplish , and what she wanted to see happen in the future with cervical cancer . It is not on the website yet . I am not sure when they will be finished editing it , and putting it up . The men that interviewed her and filmed her , are the owners of cancer quest , and were some of the kindest people I have ever met . Dr. Tammy at times , had problems staying focused on the subjects , because of the pain drugs she was on , but they stayed right with her , and let her go at her own pace . Please pass the word about this very informative , special website .
